This past weekend, Kloster Zscheiplitz welcomed a distinguished Czech delegation for an intensive exchange on art history, provenance research, and conservation—a dialogue that also laid the groundwork for future collaborative scholarship.
The delegation was led by PhDr. Eliška Fučíková, CSc., an internationally renowned art historian and author, who has received numerous prestigious accolades, including the Gottfried von Herder Prize, the French Ordre Pour le Mérite for Sciences and Arts, as well as honours from the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Fine Art Commission in London. She was accompanied by Markéta Ježková, an art historian at Prague's Studia Rudolphina Center, and engineer Jaroslav Kubíček, who plays a key role in the restoration and revitalisation of Kácov Castle. Oliver Tietze, chairman of Kunstretter e.V. and a diploma conservator-restorer, was warmly welcomed for his in-depth expertise, which draws on extensive practical experience and ongoing research in the fields of conservation and restoration. His professional insights proved a source of great enrichment to the symposium.
The symposium centred on Kloster Zscheiplitz's historic collections and the challenges of their preservation, while also opening up broader perspectives for transnational research initiatives. "Above all, the visit reaffirmed the monastery's enduring significance as a privately sustained venue where historical inquiry, artistic engagement, and international cultural dialogue converge,"said Alexander von Hahn, director of the Kloster Zscheiplitz Family Museum.
